We spent our last day in Zhengzhou with a great walking tour of the city. We found a little play area on the top level of a shopping mall and Bear actually showed us a glimpse of his personality. He got down from my lap and cautiously used a plastic shovel to load and unload a dump truck full of small, plastic pellets. He would occasionally look up at me with a tight little grin and then go back to work playing at my feet. And then the most amazing thing happened. Bear went to to Dennis for the first time and Daddy was able to hold his boy for a few minutes. I could see that Dennis was in heaven and soaking up each precious second.
All of that playing left us a little bit hungry for....ICE CREAM! We stopped at a small stand that offered a delicious coconut-mango swirl! Bear was a little unsure at first, but with a little coaching he did was Bear does best! He gobbled it up in record time and even finished what was left of Daddy's cone. Bear likes food...a lot!
We ended the day with a group dinner where I had the best meal of the trip....tomato and cheese soup with udon noodles! We packed our bags and said goodnight to the busy streets of Zhengzhou and to Bear's home province.
We left this morning at 9:30am and are now in the south of China for the remainder of the trip. We are in Guangdong....Kate's birth province. It oddly felt like coming home as we checked into the hotel for the evening. A little more than a year ago, we were here becoming Kate's parents and sweet memories came flooding back. The flight was a bit bumpy but Bear didn't budge. He napped the entire flight. If he keeps this up, he just may earn his Traveling Trusty badge before we ever leave the country!
Thank you for your continued love and support...and for your comments/messages! It is such a treat to feel like we are connected to home.
Love from Guangzhou
