The last few weeks have been hard for the Trustys...you name it and it probably happened. Granny nearly left this earth because of a mistake at the pharmacy. Our Katie took a trip to the emergency room for a head injury that resulted in a serious concussion. Robin ( friend and caretaker of the Trusty children) was in an accident. As unbelievable as it may be, I was the first car on the scene with all the littles in tow. Worried about my dear friend and having no place take the children, I showed up at work with my family where I promptly cried in front of my boss. The embarrassing kind of cry. Not pretty people. Oh, and our dog of 14 years is fading fast and neither Dennis or I could work up the nerve to take him for that one last visit to the vet. And these are just the highlights.
Somewhere in the midst of all of this, Rosie met a major childhood milestone. Now, if the week wasn't insane, I would have whipped out the big camera and came up with some clever blog. However, it just wasn't going to happen with all of the crazy in our lives. But never fear, Daddy came to the rescuse...I THINK.
Rosie lost her first tooth at school, eating a piece of cheese. I live for these things and couldn't wait to break out the "tooth fairy" pillow and slip a little money inside. As usual, I had no bills and made a mental note to get a little "cash back" at the store that evening but it totally slipped my mind. Defeated, I sat in the kitchen, willing myself to slide my shoes back on and head to the bank. Dennis, kind hearted and thoughtful as usual, told me to rest and he would take care of the Tooth Fairy surprise for Nola. Being the dutiful wife that I am, I took a bath and went to bed.
Best view of the missing tooth!
Early the next morning, I woke to sweetest sound. Nola was running down the hall to my bedroom, squealing! She said, "Mama! Mama! Get up! You will never believe what the Tooth Fairy gave me!" I smiled at my sweet girl and waited to hear her news. And then she said it. And I was left speechless.
" Mama! The Tooth Fairy left me an iTunes gift card."
The Tooth Fairy, still in bed beside me, shrugged his shoulders up and down as if to say, "Hey, it's the only thing I could come up with." I tried to bite my lip to keep from laughing but there was no keeping it in! The Tooth Fairy took care of it, all right. He delivered just as promised.
