Did you know that there is more to February than just Valentine's Day? It is also American Heart/CHD Awareness Month. And being the mother of a little who has 2 congenital heart defects...I am aware....more aware than ever of what this means for families.
Our Katie has a "healing" heart which is mending, but we also know that surgery is a possibility in her future. And the thought of it...makes my healthy heart ache. Her specific case is classified as mild/moderate and for that we are are thankful. But we know several other littles whose cases are more severe, requiring several surgeries and even transplants.
We celebrate Kate's progress and thank God for continuing to work in her little life.
Make a point to spread a little love this month. Hug a heart warrior, make a donation to the American Heart Foundation (https://donate.heart.org) or support the Ronald McDonald House (http://www.rmh-indiana.org) who cares for families with children who need long term care.
A special thank you to J.D. & Nancy McCain (Grandparents of Samantha McCain age 17 HLHS post fontan) from Stockton, California who created Katherine's block for the CHD Awareness Quilt Project. Sending each of you heart-hugs and love from Indy.
